Eighty-year-old Lenora Moonridge lives in a residential care home where the death of fellow residents has become an accepted part of daily life. When shadowy figures begin appearing in the halls and gathering around those closest to death, Lenora believes they are responsible. The staff dismiss her fears as hallucinations, while her daughters become increasingly concerned that she is suffering from dementia. Even Lenora questions whether age has finally blurred the line between reality and delusion.

Everything changes when Jon reveals that the shadow beings are real, but unlike the others, he does not feed on the dying. Jon introduces her to a hidden world existing alongside the human one.

As Lenora becomes more certain of the truth, her family becomes more convinced she is losing touch with reality.

Accepting that her life is nearing its natural end, Lenora chooses love over fear.
